Amend the Sound Ordinance – Construction

Take back our weekends!

Abbie Kamin wants to help us take back our weekends.

That’s why Abbie is proposing to amend Houston’s sound ordinance to push back the time that construction or other loud activity can begin in residential areas on Saturdays and Sundays by two hours – from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Weekends are a time to connect with family and friends, unwind from a stressful week, or catch up on some much-needed sleep.

On average, people sleep an extra 30 to 40 minutes on the weekend and that extra sleep may help actually help prevent premature death. In families with children, eating breakfast together can lead to better nutrition and weight outcomes as well as promote body positivity for children and adolescents. For others, a calm weekend morning provides time to relax and relieve stress.

Whether it is sleeping in, a family meal, or just a relaxing morning, no one should have their peaceful weekend morning disrupted by the sound of a jack hammer or a construction truck backing up at 7:00 a.m.

If you want to elect smart leaders who will push for thoughtful policy fixes like this one, please consider endorsing Abbie, volunteering for her campaign or making a contribution today. Thank you!
